Der Abentheuerliche Simplicissimus

H.J.C. von Grimmelshausen

€25

This account of the Thirty Year War is told from the point of view of Simplicius, a child raised by peasants in the Holy Roman Empire, and separated from his family by troops on the forage. Simplicius is adopted by a hermit, joins the army, experiences wealth, disease and the joys of a bourgeois lifestyle, travels extensively and end up in a land inhabited by mermen. Finally he becomes a hermit himself, pronouncing the world corrupt.
Our poster version of Simplicissimus captures this peculiar life as a neat, easily reviewed block of text.
